Master Yuan's First Ceremony to Formally Accept Disciples
09-March-2012

The culture of Wudang has been passed down through the generations for countless years and Wudang culture continues to be transmitted and proliferated to the world today.  The reason for this is not only from promotion and development, but also because of the great importance placed on passing on knowledge to successive generations.  The waves of the past generations roll over to the next generation, constantly pushing us forward.  It is only from the importance placed on successive transmission of this treasured traditional culture that it has been able to thrive and continue to develop and grow.
Although Master Yuan has been teaching for 16 years, he  has only taught students and has not accepted official disciples.  Master Yuan is the head disciple and main lineage holder of the 15th generation of Wudang San Feng Lineage.  After many years of hard work and experience Master Yuan has cultivated extensive experience in both practice and teaching methods.  He has traveled extensively throughout Asia, America, and Europe where he continues to be invited to teach and lecture on Daoism and Wudang wushu; unceasingly helping to spread the culture of Wudang to the rest of the world.  As a result of this, Master Yuan has had a profound impact on Westerners' understanding and experience of Wudang wushu, as well as helping to create an international community of Western practitioners.
During Master Yuan's time teaching, he has discovered that many people place great importance on the cultivation of character and healthy living as well as physical fitness.  This concept is strongly tied in with the Daoist theory of xing ming shuang xiu (性命双修), or cultivating both the physical and the spirit.  For those looking to improve their quality of life, the practice of Wudang wushu is an indispensable and magnificent method.
In order to continue to transmit and disseminate the teachings of Daoist thought, the traditional systems of Daoist culture and practice, and to help students to further develop the Daoist path in the future, strict compliance with Wudang Daoist regulations, rules, and discipline is fundamental, requisite, and indispensable.  In addition an enthusiastic, devoted, and passionate personal practice must be maintained.  Master Yuan has scheduled his first ceremony to formally accept disciples for 09-March-2012.  Those accepted will be entered as the 16th generation inheritors of the Wudang San Feng Lineage.  Master Yuan feels that in teaching disciples one must use the traditional method of teaching and transmission in order to let his disciples understand the true essence of this rich and ancient culture.  Master Yuan hopes that his disciples will excel and deepen their knowledge while continuing to practice and to help spread and develop the national culture of Wudang even further.

Those interested in becoming official disciples of Master Yuan in the ceremony will be required to pay for all of their expenses during their time here (room, board, etc.).  If space is insufficient in the academy, we will contact nearby hotels about providing space.  In addition to these expenses those taking part in the ceremony are also required to pay for the ceremony expenses as well.  Including, but not limited to the official document and identification that will be provided during the ceremony as well as the ceremonial sword given by Master Yuan.  All interested in taking part in the ceremony must register and pay in advance.  More information will be given regarding the exact date, registration, and payment in the near future.
